Assessments

I will be informally assessing students throughout this global unit.  I will be observing their progress on activities and using discussion time each day to see how they are remembering the information we've learned.

I will be evaluating their journal entries at the end of each lesson to see if they can apply what they have learned.  This will not be graded formally with a rubric, but will be monitored by teacher and teacher assistant.  Assistance will be given to students for writing when needed.

Discussions and group work will be assessed by the rubric below:

Students will be evaluated on their final celebration book progress at the end of the unit.  Each page should look similar to the teacher example.  Students should have followed directions and completed in a timely manner (1 day for each page).  These books won't get a "grade" but will be observed and corrected if there's any problems.

At the end of the unit, the students will be completing a venn diagram that I will collect as well as writing an informational piece about one of the celebrations we studied.  I will collect this writing to assess what they have learned and also evaluate their writing skills.

The rubric below will assess how they complete they writing assignment.  It has 3 categories based on Kindergarten standards.
