K.C.1- Understand how individuals are similar and different.

K. C. 1.1- Explain similiarities in self and in others.

K.C.1.2-   Explain the elements of culture (how people speak, how people dress, foods they eat. etc.)

Kindergarten English Language Arts Common Core Standards

RI.K.3 With prompting and support, describe the connection between two individuals, events, ideas, or pieces of information in a text. 

RI.K.7 With prompting and support, describe the relationship between illustrations and the text in which they appear (e.g. what person, place, thing, or idea in the text an illustration depicts).

W.K.2 Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose informative, explanatory texts in which they name what they are writing about and supply some information about the topic. 

Objectives


  • Students will be able to discuss facts and collaborate with peers and teachers. 
  • Students will be able to compare and contrast different celebrations through a Venn diagram.
  • Students will be able to create artifacts based on 7 different countries celebrations through various art projects to form a book. 
  • Students will be able to recall at least 2 facts about each celebration learned by drawing and writing in their journals after each day's lessons. 
  • Students will be able to answer the compelling question proposed early in the unit by providing  information about each celebration through artifacts, writing, and discussion.
